Our Story

From furnished apartments to foreclosures to vacation market STRs — 25+ years of real estate, every strategy mastered.

Most real estate educators pick one niche and teach it. We couldn't do that — because we've done it all. Tara started her career in 1998 selling homes. By the early 2000s, she was running Finally Home Relocation Service, a corporate housing business that rented fully furnished apartments to corporations. Essentially, she was operating a short-term rental business before Airbnb or VRBO existed.

When the 2008 financial crisis hit, Tara founded Minnesota Home Venture and pivoted to managing distressed property portfolios for Freddie Mac, HUD, and Bank of America. This was a masterclass in property analysis, renovation management, and market dynamics — at scale. Chris joined the business, and together they completed over 100 property flips while simultaneously building a long-term rental portfolio across multiple markets.

In 2019, we made a deliberate decision to begin transitioning from traditional long-term rentals to short-term rentals. Our first converted property generated $74,000 in its first year — more than 3x what the same property earned as a long-term rental. We expanded into premier vacation rental markets and implemented AI automation systems that now handle 80% of guest communication and operations.

Real Estate Career Begins

Tara earns her real estate license and begins selling residential properties, building deep knowledge of local markets and the fundamentals of real estate transactions.

Early 2000s

Corporate Housing Pioneer

Tara launches Finally Home Relocation Service — a corporate furnished rental business that operated like VRBO before VRBO existed, renting fully furnished apartments to corporations relocating employees.

2008

Minnesota Home Venture Founded

Tara founds Minnesota Home Venture during the foreclosure crisis, managing listing portfolios for Freddie Mac, HUD, and Bank of America. Chris joins the business, and together they build one of the region's most active distressed property operations.

2010–2018

Fix & Flip Mastery

Tara and Chris complete 100+ property flips and distressed asset sales, developing deep expertise in renovation management, contractor relationships, deal analysis, and exit strategies.

2015–2019

Long-Term Rental Portfolio
